Read about my earlier post on the Go!liath Challenge held about a week ago at GBK Here.
Go! Burger Kitchen (GBK)
If you've read the above post by now *grins*, you would know that I've yet to satiate my hunger for a GBK burger. So, when I heard that they recently added a couple of new 'creations' to their menu and a couple of tweaks on their current one - I jumped at the opportunity to revisit.
On a side note, I had so much fun editing all the burger pictures - as much as I enjoyed eating 'em.
Go! Burger Kitchen opened for business in Setiawalk less than a month ago.
Being a very much customer driven bunch they are, you will be seeing heaps of exciting additions and custom made specialty burgers on GBK's menu - you will be spoilt for choices.
Likewise, if you have any great burger ideas, do pop them an email - I'm sure they won't bite.
Having served a record of 100+ burgers on a Friday night itself, this has got to be a stellar start for an early beginning isn't it? This place should easily be a unequivocal success in no time.
Of course one wouldn't miss out on the picture-taking opportunity of an awesome burger-prepping experience by executive chef, Rao - having trained under Shangri-La chain of restaurants for awhile and the ex-apprentice of David Pooley, there's loads to keep up with.
What you might find distinctive in the burgers in GBK is that the cheese are 'flamed' rather than grilled-to-melt. Hence, it might be a little dry towards the end but once you get used to the tang of it, it's a pretty good alternative to the conventional.
GBKs' got that no-frills, no reservations, favourite-to-regulars appeal with a tinge of American old school inspired paraphernalia.
Go! Swiss. Rm20 (comes with fries and drinks).
Unlike many other burgers that I've tried, this portion came huge - 4oz Australian grass fed beef patty. The beef patty was a tad dry but juicy and absolutely scrumptious nonetheless. The abundance of sautéed mushrooms and caramelised onions capped off the burger and made it a flavourful one. There was a tinge too much black pepper in it though - a minor blip in an otherwise fabulous meal.
The New Ones.
El Chorizo. Rm27/set.
A massive 5oz pork patty with chorizo sausages, a strip of grilled bacon, 2 layers of melted cheese topped with pringles.
I was extremely elated to try out this burger. I mean, look at the stack of fillings - now, that's a party.
The sausage pork patty was delicious and cooked just right, not forgetting the sausages that came with it - it was savoury, as expected. What also worked for me was the savoury-sweet aftertaste that lurked on the back of the palate that was balanced with the greens at the bottom, it was scrumptious.
I thought having chips on a burger was great! But when I came down to it, the cheese had already hardened and pringles soggy - but it was totally my fault for getting too caught up with my picture taking antiques and not eating it warm.
Das Nurnberger. Rm35/set.
This - is one porky burger.
The roll of chorizo sausage had a distinct pork flavour to it, which I thought was absolutely delish - on its own. The caramelised onions and GBK salsa that came with it did not really work in its favour, perhaps a little tweak to the toppings would do the trick and leaner bacon please. =)
On a separate note, the 15% early bird discount is still on going.
