The Grind Burger Bar @ Section 17 PJ

I have been having a bit too many Burgers lately. It's hard to believe that it was merely a year ago when the burger-boom (oh hey! it rhymes!) started and now, I believe the market is quite saturated already but hey, not that I'm complaining. More burger joints, more food to go around, more happy people right?

The Grind Burger Bar

Not far from SS2 Square and just a stone throw away from the Rothman roundabout, is The Grind Burger Bar. Being one of the newest Burger places in PJ, I was quite excited to give it a go.

Some burger joints are noted for being broadly crowded especially during weekends, I was quite fortunate to have a bunch of friends who got there slightly earlier than I.

There is a good selection of standard and In-house burgers on its menu, coupled with some side dishes and desserts, there is definitely plenty to go around.

I've always been quite patient when it comes to waiting time, knowing that it is not uncommon for burger orders to take as long as 90 minutes to arrive. (True story at Myburgerlab).

It took a good hour for my burger to arrive this time round, not because of crowded orders but rather a forgotten order. That said, the waitress was very apologetic and compensated us with a plate of meatballs nonetheless.

The Grind House Burger. Rm19/Rm21.

Layered between an artisanal brioche bun is freshly ground Australian grain-fed beef patty coated with crusted peppercorn and salad with fries and greens on the side.

Since my rather unfavourable cross with peppercorn coated beef patties in FatBoys Burger Bar, I have been quite sceptical with the likes. I was happy as there was just enough peppercorn in The Grind's version. Nevertheless, the patty was not pressed well enough, it was breaking apart the moment I sliced through it and the pink coloured Dracula mayonnaise simply did not work for me.

The Horno'lulu Burger. Rm17/Rm19.
A juicy chunk of beef patty topped with a slice of grilled pineapple, melted cheddar cheese and salad. The coarsely ground patty didn’t have a lot of seasoning but this worked in its favour. A really well-balanced burger that was pretty delectable for me.
Swedish Meatballs. Rm19.

House made 50/50 pork and beef meatball dressed in house gravy and served with lingonberry jam was indeed juicy and appetizing. The warm gravy definitely complimented the charred flavour of the meatballs.

A picture of the desirous bunch.

And of catching the PufferFish Face!
Overall Rating: 7/10. This place serves up quite a number of original dishes that is worthwhile of trying. Besides the loosely pressed patty, I figured customer service needs to be uplifted also and loose the pink coloured sauces please. Apart from that, I would definitely return to try out some of their other in house burgers and the big black dog.

The Grind is located at:
7, Jalan 17/45, Section 17, Petaling Jaya.
Opening Hours: 12pm-3pm, 5pm-10pm
