KimchiHaru @ Jaya One

안녕하세요.

Have I ever shared that I actually attended an Intensive Korean Course some time ago? It was quite a challenging feat I must say; to memorize 14 consonants, 5 double consonants, 10 vowels, 11 consonant clusters, 11 diphthongs and never ending list of new words every week. Bare minimum.

That was a year ago. Now? I barely register half of what I've learned. Go figure.

KimchihHaru

Being the one and only Korean restaurant in Jaya One, Kimchiharu opened its doors in 2009. Located on the 2nd floor, directly facing the construction site, this place is easy to locate and parking spaces are readily available across the road.

Serving up to 27 types of contemporary Korean dishes, one would be spoilt for choices. It's specialty include an original recipe of vegetable broth consisting of 12 types of vegetables and fruits, prepared without the use of MSG or other artificial seasoning that is used in preparing all the main dishes in Kimchiharu.

Kimchi & Salad (Unlimited Refills)

Side Dishes (Comes with Set meal. No refills)

Pork Bulgogi. Rm14.90 (a la carte) /Rm17.90 (set).

Served on a bed of fresh cabbage, the thinly sliced BBQ pork was juicy and marinated to perfection. I would recommend this.

Pork Soft TofuJigae. Rm14.20.

The generous portions of tofu, clams and seafood lent the broth with much flavour and texture to the otherwise un-Kimchi-like soup. The seafood probably infused the soup with too much sweetness that it took away the spicy and sourness of Kimchi.
Seafood Pajeon. Rm11.30.

The Korean pancake was crispy on the edges and chewy inside. Served with a local twist, sambal, I found this dish worthwhile of trying.

Cheese Noodle Topokki. Rm14.50.

Rice cakes and korean noodles served with a cheese base spicy sauce, Topokki, has always been one of my all time Korean favorites. With a tinge of spiciness, the broth was not too overwhelmingly cheesy and perfect while eaten warm. I kinda enjoyed this also.

Korean Aloe Juice. Rm4.70.

I have always been a huge fan of Everything-Aloe but I'm still leaning towards the likes of Ko Hyang in 1 Utama.

Overall Rating: 7/10 for the food, ambiance and value for money. I will surely return for another dose of 한국 food.
