Belly Good @ Sunway Mentari KL

Rather than just visiting the quintessial American restaurants like Tony Roma's and Morganfields to just a few, I'm always on the lookout for contemporary and stand alone Western infused restuarant, like Betty's Midwest Kitchen in Aman Suria which serves mouthwatering, rib-staking delights.

BellyGood

There was a lot of hearsay about this place called BellyGood, a family run business. This Western Restaurant in Sunway Mentari has been around for quite a long time.

Known for its a western infused, non-halal fusion dishes which caters exclusively to pork lovers.

Set in a homely yet chic environment, the restaurant is air conditioned and has a dining capacity of 70 at one time. At one look, the interior looked quite scarce and I reckon it was slightly lacking in a bit of a homely and cosy feel.

There was quite an extensive selection to its menu, ranging from pork specialities to salad for the health conscious. Alcoholic beverages are readily available also.

The place was virtually empty when we got there on a scorching Saturday afternoon at 2pm, hence, meals were served in a jiff.

Trio Platter. Rm29.90.

My Trio Platter consist of a combination of grilled pork belly, pork ribs and pork chorizo sausage served with homemade mashed potatoes and fresh coleslaw.

Sizzled with pipping hot barbeque sauce, the grilled pork ribs was meaty, tender and succulent and slid right off the bones. The pork belly was mildly fatty but the meat was equally juicy and bursting with flavors. The pork chorizo sausage though tasted a bit bland and processed.

Mixed Platter. Rm29.90.

The Mixed platter was a combination of grilled pork belly and pork ribs. The mashed potatoes and coleslaw was pretty good though I must note that it wouldn't harm to add one more spoon of mayonaise to the mashed potatoes.

Grilled Pork Medallion. Rm25.90.

The slabs of grilled pork medallion with mushroom gravy was equally delectable though my friend did note that one of it was slightly overcooked, hence, a bit too tough and chewy. Overall, it was a delicious dish nonetheless.

The Ultimate Pork Burger. Rm24.80.

The 100% grilled premium pork patty topped with bacon, caramelised onion and salad was simply delicious. The pork patty was juicy and not too dry and the bacon was crisp and just right. The fries was pretty standard but the onion rings was a tad too oily.

Cafe Latte. Rm9.90.

I don't know why, but I think I had some serious water retention on that day. I looked so bloated, especially on the face (if that's anything new).

Overall Rating: 7.5/10. The pork specialties are a definite must-try in BellyGood with a thumbs up for the Mixed Platter. Not too sure if the same goes for the pasta dishes though. Will definitely revisit again.
