Burger Junkyard, The Strand Kota Damansara

It was a rainy Friday night, which means one thing - Heavy traffic. I contemplated for awhile on whether or not I should postpone my foodie trial this time round, but the thought of burgers and fries got the best of me - Yes, I was thinking on an empty stomach.

Burger Junkyard

Located right next to the infamous Sunway Giza, The Strand - though smaller, housed quite a number of eateries and the likes. When I left, nearly close to midnight, there was two other coffee places around the corner, still buzzling with activity. I shall come back with a review next time.

Burger Junkyard pipes up servings of traditional All-American food and as the name suggests, they offer a variety of burgers in its menu. Still relatively new to the scene so to speak, this place probably need no further introduction amongst the foodies nor the masses, with comparison constantly being made with rivals, MyBurgerlab.

With so many burger joints sprouting up and around Klang Valley, what's the take on this one?

The creatively designed graffiti come mural is definitely worth a mention (more like a picture) here.

Burger Junkyard's menu speaks for itself.

Steamin' Cheeseburger. Rm12.90.

Being one of the more classic burgers in the menu - this could make it or break it. The chunk of juicy beef patty, combined with its signature cheddar was a mixture of oozing goodness. The burger bun had a nice shiny glaze and was really soft - so soft that once you sink your teeth into it, it gets stuck in between the corners. Overall verdict - Pass.

Formageet Fungi. Rm14.90.

Shitake, Portobello and button mushrooms was used to spurn up one of BJ's signature mushroom sauces. Looking extremely appetizing, the amalgamation of cheese, mushroom sauce and a nicely cooked beef patty can't go wrong.

Hoola Hoop Hawaii. Rm14.90.

The typical Hawaiian delights have always been an all time favourite with pizzas and burgers alike. This version of smoked turkey ham, grilled chicken, pineapple ring and melted cheese dressed with tangy cocktail sauce was smokin'. The tasty patty was wet and drippin' - its juicy essence went straight to the pile of shoe string fries, which I'm sad to say, was dry and overcooked.

Buffalo Soldier. Rm14.90.

Not exactly a typical burger with a patty per se, this charred grilled chicken thigh on buffalo hot sauce was a medley of goodness. The flavours that really stood out for me were the sweetness from the buffalo sauce and the rest of the combo that complemented it. If I could recommend a tweak to the burger, I would want two helpings of chicken instead of just this meagre one - Yes, it was small like that.

Tropical Fruit Tea. N/A.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10. Burgers was A-Okay but I could do with bigger portions.
