Bulgogi Brothers @ Paradigm Mall

Updated: Check out Bulgogi Brother's new menu in my recent write-up Here!

After a sequence of infallible dose of everything French and Italian, I've decided to opt for something Asian this time round instead. And for those who know me would know that I'm quite fond of Korean cuisine.

Though many have said that unlike Japanese food, one has to have an acquired taste for Korean food.

Bulgogi Brothers

Annyeong-haseyo.

Situated at The Boulevard, alongside Fa Ying by Rama V, Serai and TGI Fridays, Bulgogi Brothers is accessible via a narrow walkway from the main mall at same level as Marks and Spencer.

There is both an indoor and outdoor seating area.

Contrary to most BBQ restaurants, I was very impressed wtih the air ventilation indoors as there were no lingering aroma of BBQ-ed food on my clothes when I left the restaurant.

I noticed that the BBQ meat dishes is priced about 20% higher than Dao Rae, Dasarang and the lots.

While waiting for the mains to arrive, the side dishes came in a jiff.

Frankly speaking, the side dishes were not that apetitzing to me. The combination was slightly off, it was all sour, rather than a mixture of.

Korean Shik Hye. Rm7.90.

This Korean version of cold rice drink was sweet and had a slight cinnamon taste to it.

Bulgogi Brothers Special.
400gm - Rm81.90 (2 people)
600gm - Rm121.90 (3 people)

The platter of Bulgogi Brothers special consisting of Unyang and Gwangyang style Bulgogi with a series of white mushrooms, garlic, onions and sweet potatoes.

The heart shape Unyang Bulgogi was just so pretty to look at. One would have thought that this dish was inspired by Valentines day, apparently not. This is in fact a famous royal cusine made from thinly sliced beef and seasoned with unyang sauce.

I was given an option of how I want the beef to be done and I went for Medium cooked. The end product was a bit of a letdown. Though it was very juicy on the outside and the meat was decently tender, the beef was simply not seasoned to perfection. It was seriously lacking in flavors and taste.

The Gwangyang style Bulgogi on the other hand was more flavorful compared to the former.

Chicken Bibimbap. Rm26.90.

The chicken bibimbap was served along with various vegetables and spicy bibim sauce cooked in a sizzling stone bowl. While mixing all the ingredients together, the aroma of bits of charred rice and spicy sauce made it even more appetizing than it looked.

The vegetables was fresh and crunchy and I really am a big fan of the charred bits of rice at the bottom. However, the chicken was not marinated well, it was practically covered with curry powder and spices and I could barely taste the chicken itself. It was a bit too spicy towards the end but excluding the chicken, this dish was not too bad.

Kimchi Jjigae. Rm22.90.

A combination of tofu, sliced beef brisket and rice cakes, this kimchi stew was quite good. Overall, it was not too spicy and there was a decent amount of sides in the kimchi stew.

I was also given a stick of complimentary Korean ice cream since it was my birthday yesterday.

#Lotsa Luv.

And by signing up with Pinch of Salt, I'm entitled to a 10% rebate credited into the card for all outlets under the Chaswood Group.

Overall Rating: 6.5/10 for the environment, food and good customer service. Besides being priced at a premium compared to its Dao Rae and Dasarang counterparts, in my humble opinion, the quality of dishes ordered today is just about the same as Ko Hyang and Sopoong, the casual mid-tier Korean restaurants.
