Humble Beginnings @ Bangsar - Mille Crepe!

For me, CNY is all about the camaraderie of being around old (and new) acquaintances while being surrounded by the celebration of festive joy and food.

Hence, it is no surprise that one would gain a pound or two around the waist line and lose a pound or two from the wallet. It compliments each other you see.

If you have read about my Vanilla Cakes review, you would know what Mille crêpe is all about.

Humble Begginings

Humble Beginnings’ Creations are essentially Mille Crepes. A Mille Crepe is a French Cake with “mille” meaning “a thousand”. In their creations, there are 20 layers of crepes with a delightful combination of Fresh Cream and Vanilla Custard between each layer. The topmost layer is made to caramelized to give it a nice smoky sugary flavour. Everything is hand-made and hand-layered.

There is also a selection of Sponge cakes and Cheesecakes available. Pick up and delivery services available as well.

One of the more popular dessert places in Bangsar since the Mille Crepe faze. I have to admit though, this place is a tad hard to locate if you are not familiar with the Telawi layout. Tucked in small shoplot next to Subway and along the same row as Dominos, the place was already in the midst of calling it a day when we got there. Still, we managed do a takeaway and had our delectable slices of Mille Crepes in Coffee Bean instead.

Pardon the presentation, no plates and all.

Each slice of Humble Beginnings Mille crêpe costs Rm9.90++.

French Vanilla.

The french vanilla mille crepe is one of HB's signature slices. The layers were soft, light and not too sweet. Definitely one of my favorites.

Peanutbutter Blueberry.

Also one of HB's favorites, is the peanutbutter blueberry slice. Layered between each mille crepe Hershey Reese's peanut butter and blueberries. The combination of peanut butter and crepes works surprisingly well and it was not too overwhelming for the tastebuds even towards the end of the slice. This is clearly one of my favorites, a definite must try.

Raspberry Cheese Yogurt.

A concoction of raspberry, cream cheese and yogurt. Among the 4 slices that I had, I least favored this among the lots. Simply because it was a tad sweet compared to the others and I prefer having the caramelized egg-ish crusty-burnt on the topmost layer.

Peach Passion.

Peach passion consist of peach slices and fresh cream, a simple blend of ingredients.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10 for the french vanilla and penutbutter blueberry Mille crêpe. In comparison with Vanilla Cakes, I would definitely prefer Humble Beginnings.

I get a little overwhelm towards the end of my dessert if there's too much cream in it. HB's Mille crêpe is somewhat lighter in terms of texture and not as creamy as the VC's version. A thumbs up in my opinion.
