The Red Bean Bag @ Publika

Please Click HERE for my updated review of The Red Bean Bag's new menu.

I vaguely recall going to Publika one fine morning, in search for a breakfast fix. Knowing that it was a Monday and public holiday but not knowing that The Red Bean Bag doesn't open on Mondays, I was utterly dissapointed.

Still in search of one of the Best Breakfast Places, I decided to pay The Read Bean Bag a visit again, barely a week after. This time on a weekend.

The Red Bean Bag

Located one level up at a separate block overlooking the piazza or the main mall  (Alternatively, from fat boy burgers, walk pass Ben's and take one flight of stairs up), it was a surprise that this place was already buzzing with activity when the restaurants downstairs was still relatively quiet.

On the weekends, waiting time could be as long as 30-45 minutes. This place is not halal but does not serve pork.

Like Antipodean Cafe, The Red Bean Bag is also an Australian inspired, independant cafe started up by few young entrepeneurs slightly more than a year ago and has already garnered many regulars (like me) and first timers alike and word is still spreading.

Besides the ever popular All-day breakfast menu, this place also carries a separate lunch and dinner menu.

Cappuccino. Rm8.00.
This place serves a decent brew.

Potato Skin Platter. Rm18.00.

Mildly spiced chicken sausages wrapped in potato skins and topped with a layer of mozzarella cheese then baked. The potato skin was crispy and the cheese still sticky when we were served. I love this.

Special Baked Eggs. Rm17.90.

This was really a scrumptious treat. Unlike any other typical breakfast meal I've tasted, this dish consist of eggs cracked into a baking dish of lamb, beef and chicken sausages, sundried tomatoes, aubergine, potatos and cheese then baked to a crisp and perfection. This one of my favorites as well.

Eggs Benedict v2.0. Rm15.90.

Eggs Atlantic v2.0. Rm17.90.

You can opt your own choice of eggs (Poached/Over-Eazy/Sunny Side Up/Scrambled Eggs), which I usually just go with poached. Also for eggs benedict, beef or turkey ham.

The Eggs Benedict consist of poached eggs with hollangaise, asparagus, mushrooms and streaky beef or turkey ham on top of fluffy french toasted bread. Same goes with the Eggs Atlantic version but with generous slices of smoked salmon.

I'm a huge fan of the Eggs atlantic and Eggs benedict family. The RBB benedict was smooth and satisfying and the bacon was crispy and chewy. Yet again, don't underestimate its size, the egg yolks would probably stuff you up towards the end of the meal. Care for some eggs?

RBB's Big Breakfast Fry-Up. Rm19.90.

Skyscrapper. Rm14.90.

Homemade Tiramisu. Rm13.00.

Shroom Shroom. Rm24.90.

A creamy mix of generoud portions of mushrooms and beef bacon on a bed of homemade fettucine. My friend really enjoyed his dish.

Some other pictures I took on random ocassions.

Menu is available Here.

Overall Rating: 8/10 because of the food and especially the Special baked eggs, overall breakfast menu and also being one of my more frequented breakfast spot at the moment. Slightly downgraded because of the really long waiting time and slow customer service. I would definitely return for seconds perhaps to try out the lunch and dinner menu next time.
