Murni Discovery @ SS2 PJ - The Premium Neighborhood Mamak Joint

Just Sharing.....

It's not rare to see tables placed outside Murni, stretching from the restaurant itself all the way to both ends of the row of shoplots. Yet, there will still be eager patrons hanging around the entrance, waiting anxiously to be seated. It was that popular like that.

I reckon Murni is one of the most profit-making restaurants in ss2 square with top gun still being McDonalds.

Managed by a husband, wife, son and daughter of nyonya descent, it was a family affair. Nevertheless, they still get a great load of help from hired Indian, Malay and foreign workers.

I still remember those days when the whole family was there to man the shop in ss2 square. I usually frequent the place every week, wee hours in the morning, after my drinking sessions. There was even once I rememberd that me and my friend was the last one standing in the restaurant, at 5.30am in the morning. Not long after, me and my friends became regulars and close friends with the bosses and the workers there. To the extend that they sit down with us and chat away.

Being regulars, we do get special treatment. Faster service, ocassionally free condiments and not to mention, your birthday? Free meal on the house. No small change for your 2 plates of Indomee and limau ais? On the house too. Thank you Boss!

Ribena and Kiwi Special satu! Rm5.00.

Many have said that over the years, as Murni has been expanding a bit too quickly, weakening the standard of dishes served. Within a mere 2 years, franchises of Murni sprouted up in strategic areas like Aman Suria and Puchong to just name a few, with the one in ss2 still being the grandfather and favorite of the lots.

I, personally think that one of Murni's main selling point is that they serve some really unique blend of workable dishes, not found in any other mamak around.

Mee Raja. Rm8.00.

This generous amount of noodles topped with seafood is enough to feed 2. My favorite among the lot.

Garlic Cheese Naan. Rm5.00.

Amidst all the fushion dishes available, this place still maintain its range of mamak dishes but still, with a Murni twist to it. I like this version of cheest naan because its huge and with generous layer of cheese filling.

Chicken Maryland. Rm12.00.
Deep fried chicken chop served with Indomee with telur mata kerbau, fries and some chips. Like I said, portions are usually huge.
Spegetti Carbonara. Rm8.00++.

Calzone-lookalike. Dragon-something.

This dish was actually a bit of a dissapointment. The dough was thick and tasteless though the filling was still pretty alright. Eaten with mixed herbs tomato sauce.

Other popular dishes include the claypot Lou Shu Fan (Rm5.00), Roti Hawaii (Rm5.00), Sizzling chicken chop (Rm12.00). All must-try(s) in Murni.

Though I don't frequent Murni that often anymore ever since I cut back on the night outings, it still remains as one of the favorite yumcha hotspot around.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10 for the unique blend of dishes and the downgrade because of hygiene (longkang kotor) and yes, I do noticed that the standard of dishes has been somewhat deteriorating.
