Tickling My Tastebuds | Levain Boulangerie Patisserie, Jalan Delima KL

Pardon the French. They tend to favor hard-to-pronounce, tongue-twisting names, because it makes them sound more sophisticated like that. Which is not entirely untrue... Hm...

It was after work on a Friday evening that me and my colleagues decided to head to Levain for some french pastries and light dinner.

Located at Jalan Delima, off Jalan Imbi, this place is located at the quieter side of the city. Along the way I noticed that there was many colonial-style bungalows and conceptualized restaurants situated around the area. It was rather difficult to locate Levain, thank God my friend has been there and knows the way.

There was ample parking space when we got there since each house-lot has its own parking spaces.

Levain Boulangerie Patisserie, Jalan Delima

Levain is a french-style bakery and cafe where the main speciality would be it's pastries and coffee. Baked hot off the stone, this place boosts a variety of breads and pastries, cakes, sandwiches as well as a couple of full dishes. They also make their own handmade gourmet pralines and chocolate and carries a variety of macaroons (Rm3/each for a box of 10 or Rm3.60 for 1).

Passionfruit and Mango Tart. Rm8.50.

I absolutely love this. It was pleasant to the eye and covered with a layer of glazed mango. The tart was not too sweet, just the way I like it.

Strawberry Shortcake. Rm8.50.

New York Cheesecake. Rm8.50.

The New York cheesecake was rich, smooth and glides right down my throat.

Seafood Aglio Olio Spaghetti. Rm11.90.
Overall rating: 6/10 because of the cakes I tried (though I'm still a long way to go with the rest of the pastries and such). Presentation was an A+ and so was variety. There was still a variety of breads and cakes available though it was already close to nightfall when we got there. Downgraded because of the substandard 'Hot Menu', pasta dishes and that water is free but self-served.

Perhaps I should pay this place a visit again, but this time, early in the morning when the pastries is fresh and hot-off the oven. This would also be a perfect place for high tea.
