[CLOSED] F by Buffalo Kitchen @ Bangsar

I googled Best Breakfast Places in Bangsar and this place came up in the Top search column, so I knew that I 'had' to pay this place a visit sooner or later.

Didn't do much during the weekends besides the Sunday morning brunch session I had with my school mates. Actually, come to think of it, it was more like a lunch session (I got there at about 12.30pm). By the way, we were the first to arrive at the restaurant.

'F' Concept Dining by Buffalo Kitchen

Have been having endless craving for big breakfast lately. First it was Antipodean, then it was Plan B and when I though I was over that phase already, then came Buffalo Kitchen, located right about Chawan and right in front of Bangsar Village I.

I've always enjoyed the sight of conceptualized interior and exterior decoration. Be it a restaurant or an apartment even. Not that I know much about interior designing but just by putting the extra tinge of  personalized touch to a restaurant really does make that much of a difference.

There was a fine range of breakfast available on the brunch menu. Frankly speaking, prices was slightly higher than average with Antipodean being the benchmark of Rm18. If you look close enough, Fresh soy milk costs a wooping Rm18 Rm8, right at the bottom of the menu.

Alternatively, there's the standard menu.

Here comes the Food.
Cappuccino. Rm8++.

The Coffee was really good. It was surprisingly smooth and it was warm. By warm, I meant it was warm but slightly on the hotter side, just the way I like it, not the lukewarm that most cappuccino are like. Unlike the typical premium coffee beans used in cafes like illy and Lavazza to just name a few, this place uses coffee beans from GaBee, a Taiwanese based company.

F-ing Healthy Brunch Platter. Rm28.

This combination is not available on the Breakkie menu but on the writing board instead. A combination of a fried egg, a slice of ham, avocado spread, smoked salmon, sauteed mushrooms, a cup of yogurt topped with muesli and some salad and fruits. It may look light but it was really a full-on breakfast, even for a guy.

Eggs Atlantic. Rm20.

I had this. A slice of toasted bread layered with smoked salmon, sauteed mushroom, 2 poached eggs, spanish onions, arugula and topped with generous amount of hollandaise sauce. The eggs was poached to perfection and the smoked salmon was fresh. Once again, don't under estimate its size, I was barely 3/4 way through before giving up the carbs and decided to chomp down the toppings only. It was good but not awesome.

Slow cooked eggs with homemade bacon and baked beans. Rm22.

Right at the bottom is the baked beans, topped with eggs which were slow cooked to a thin custard texture and a yolk that is thick and rich. (Chinese like to eat this type of egg with soy sauce). On top of that there's generous amount of bacon and to finish it up, two slices of avocado spread bread. My guy friend, who usually eats like a horse, was 3/4 before he had to take a rest before finishing it off.

I don't know if it's just me, but the statement on the wall sounds grammatically incorrect.

It was already about 2pm when we finished. The place was already fully packed with the eager lunch crowd.

Overall Rating: 7/10. Food was good and so was the ambience. Love the uniquely different breakfast menu, but of course I noted that it was priced slightly higher then the rest. Enjoyed watching the chefs scurrying in the open aired kitchen, but was not particularly fond of the overall concept. With no glass separating us and the kitchen, I figured it could get a tinge stuffy towards midday. I would definitely return to sample their lunch and dinner menu.

  1. Fresh Soy milk costs RM8 not RM 18, that's for the omelettes.
