Bavarian Bierhaus @ Wisma UOA

It was the night of V-day that we decided to head to Bavarian Bierhaus for a feisty and fiery German treat. With this being the first time I'm trying out German cuisine, I was thoroughly excited. I have had bits and pieces of German delicacies when I was at the Multicultural Festival in Australia but nothing compared to the massive pork knuckle I was about to indulge in below.

Bavarian Bierhaus

It was about 7.30pm when we arrived. The restaurant was not packed and it was quite easy to get a table of choice. That said, we went on a weekday. With the cosy layout and dimly lit restaurant, I reckon this would be an ideal place for a get together.

We kick-started the night with a pint of Guinness (Rm24) and a glass of Shiraz (Rm20). I, on the other hand, opted for something non alcoholic and decided to go with a glass of freshly squeezed juice (Rm13).

There was 5 of us and the host decided on one of the set dinners that was available on the day since it was more value for money.

Pork knuckle platter. (The ala carte cost Rm66.00 upwards)

Comes with a an amazingly generous pork knuckle and 2 types of german bartwurst with mashed potato and garnish. The skin was so crispy one could just eat the skin and yet still feel contentment (unwise in this case though). It was roasted to perfection, The skin was crunchy and 'crackling', to top that of, the meat was juicy and tender. The Bartwurst on the other hand, was very satisfactory also. Portion feeds many.

Bavarian Platter. Rm69.00.

For this, you would get a taste of all your favorite German food. The platter comes with slices of roasted pork chop, grilled pork skwer, cumin spiced chicken wings, thueringer sausage, beer roasted fish fritters, poach prawns, roasted pineapple, bacon and mash potato served with smoke black pepper and curry ketchup.

A friend of ours sneakingly took a picture of us while me and my girl friend was cam-whoring.

Overall Rating: 7.5/10 for the delighted feast. The food was delicious and pork knuckle was to die for. A plus that there's a parking lot just right next to Wisma UOA. Downgraded because of the affordability factor. But in the meantime, I am thinking of paying a visit to Brotzeit soon.
